The Sparks

Early in my career, I watched a close mentor of mine buy and take care of properties and investments herself.  I loved her independence, and the fact she took control of her financial situation herself.

I also watched some friends buy an eight bedroom house in Annerley, and pay it off in around five years, by renting out rooms.  I was inspired by how they combined community with money, taking care of their tenants and increasing their financial worth at the same time.

In 2007 I read Rich Dad Poor Dad.  It changed the way I looked at money.

These 3 events all sparked something in me - and they sent me on a journey.

The Journey

For fifteen years I worked in various roles within the Environment sector.  This included environmental impact assessment, community and industry educational programs, catchment management and waterways restoration.  The work developed my analytical, research, people and coordination skills.  With sustainability as a strong passion of mine, I felt fulfilled in this work.

I was also able to buy my first investment property in 2009.  But I was yet to discover that the road to sustainable growth was not going to be a smooth one...

The Challenges

1. Unexpected Illness

In 2010, while working full-time, I was hit with an unexpected event - Chronic Fatigue.  Unable to work - it left me with no way of earning money.  I was concerned I could lose my property.   Luckily I sought help.

Through seeking help, I was able to see different options for work that allowed me time to heal.   I then began my journey of self employment, which I continued for 7 years and I managed to keep my property.

I learned the value of seeking help, looking at all options, and adjusting when necessary.

2. Income Stress

In 2019, while running my Social Media Business, I went through a period of high stress.  It affected my health - and this was impacting my revenue.  I was once again concerned I would have to sell my property and again it was time to seek help and look at my options.

Through this I was able to come across an opportunity with a friend's Mortgage Broking Business.  I made the shift, and was not only able to keep my initial property, but also, within 18 months, was able to purchase my second property.

I become a fully accredited Finance Broker, not long after.

I once again learned the value of seeking help, looking at all options, and make a plan that fits my changing needs.

3. Feeling Stuck

In 2022, changes happened fast in the business I was working for, and not all changes I resonated with.  I began to feel dissatisfied working there, and I also felt a little trapped.  I feared that if I didn't stay in the job, I'd risk losing my properties.  I didn't want that, and I also didn't want to stay in an uncomfortable situation.  I felt stuck.

Instead of letting the fear cause me to freeze.. I took action.  I sought some help - and looked at my options.  I re-examined the budget, and was able to significantly reduce expenses.  I was also able to come across other options for employment.

The Results

I'm back in self employment again - this time as a Mortgage Broker.  I'm doing work that I love, in an environment I like - and because of this, I'm working harder and making more.

My two properties are safe and sound, and I'm well on my way to purchasing property number three.

I once again learned the value of seeking help, looking at all options and adaptation to meet my current environment.

My key values for long term sustainable growth

(1) Seek help

(2) Uncover all options

(3) Adapt to the Environment

And this is now exactly the process that I use to help my clients, with my Finance Broking Services.

To achieve long term sustainable growth - no matter what life throws at you.
